Grimes released a new music video for her track “Venus in Fleurs.” Grimes described the it as “a video my friend Video Marsh made for this really old Grimes song from my first record. We were supposed to release it ages ago and somehow it didn’t happen probably because it didn’t comply with the press cycle at the time and since I’ve stopped caring about complying with press cycles im sharing this now. This is the only post-Genesis official Grimes video that i didn’t work on myself that will ever be released. it’s a different vibe entirely as you can see. i think it’s very very beautiful and haunting and peaceful and scary.” The track is featured on her album Geidi Primes.
Shabazz Palaces released a new remix of Animal Collective's track “New Town Burnout.” The remix will be featured on Animal Collective’s upcoming Monkey Been to Burn Town EP. The EP will be available May 28.
Flying Lotus released a new short film in collaboration with director Kahlil Joseph entitled Wildcat. Wildcat explores the subculture of African American rodeo in Oklahoma with interesting black and white visuals and soundtrack provided by Flying Lotus. Kahlil Joseph stated in an interview with Nowness that “Black people are light years more advanced than the ideas and images that circulate would have you believe. The spaces we control and exist are my ground zero for filming, at least so far, and there are opportunities for me to tap into the energy. So an all-black town with an all-black rodeo in the American heartland was a kind of vortex or portal through which I could actually show this.” Flying Lotus and Kahlil Joseph also worked together in 2012 to create a short film in support of Until the Quiet Comes.
Chicago rapper Chance the Rapper released a new single called “Smoke Again" which features TDE artist Ab-Soul. The accompanying music video is directed by Ill Roots. “Smoke Again” will be featured on his upcoming mixtape Acid Rap which will be available April 30.
Crystal Castles released a new video for their track “Affection" which appears on their latest album III. According to reports, the footage of Alice Glass was filmed by Ethan Kath, the duo was filmed by their live drummer Chris Chartrand and Berlin graffiti artist Dextrose, Ashley McMinn was filmed by Marc Pannozzo, and the entire video was edited by Stephen Agnew.
Atoms for Peace released a new remix of Four Tet's standout track “Pyramid" which is featured on his latest album Pink.
